Hands are a woman’s calling card. The beauty of women's hands is the path to success. Today it is impossible to imagine a beautiful, well-groomed modern woman without well-groomed hands and a stylish manicure. And of course, each of us dreams of a manicure that lasts as long as possible and at the same time looks bright and beautiful. A manicure coated with gel polish gives the modern woman this opportunity.
So, let's figure out what gel polish is.
Gel polish is essentially a hybrid of regular nail polish and gel, which does not chip and dries quickly enough under a lamp. With all this, the composition of gel polishes is absolutely harmless to nails. Even with frequent contact with water and cleaning, nails retain their amazing appearance for 2-3 weeks.
Gel nail extension:
The most common material for nail extensions has long been gel - a material that has a natural composition and the necessary porosity. Why do the vast majority of clients choose gel nails?
- Gel nails look more natural
- The gel is odorless
- The material does not cause allergic reactions; when properly extended, the nails under the gel breathe, light, air and moisture enter them, which makes the development of fungus impossible
- This is a very multifunctional material. With its help you can extend French manicure, do sculpting and all types of decor. It can be used on tips even at home
- Has a high level of adhesion (adhesion) to the nail surface
- It lends itself well to filing, so the process does not take much time
- Gel nails are very strong and elastic, which prevents them from cracking and breaking at the slightest impact.
- When cracks appear, they can be corrected using special silk strips. However, experts still advise to grow the nail again in this case.
- Gel nail extensions can protect natural nail plates from the harmful effects of environmental factors.
Among the disadvantages, experts cite loss of resistance due to sudden changes in temperature and the lengthy process of removing them. No one yet knows why this happens and how to fix it.
There are plenty of arguments in favor, but before doing gel nail extensions, you need to contact a specialist for competent advice. He will determine whether your nails need gel extensions.
It remains to be seen what the technology itself actually looks like. This information will be especially useful for those who want to do such a procedure at home.
Pros of gel polish coating:
- quick drying using a UV lamp,
- strengthening nails (nails actually grow faster and become stronger),
- durability of the coating (within 2-3 weeks your nails will look perfect),
- versatility (can be used on nails of any length),
- affordable price,
- beautiful rich shades,
- ease of application.
Gel nail extension technology
The easiest way to extend gel nails is with tips. If you use a form - special stickers - then at the beginning you cannot avoid unevenness and adjustments.
Nail extension with tips:
Tips are plastic templates with markings that follow the shape of the nail. They are glued onto your nails and covered with gel on top.
- It all starts with hand disinfection (client and technician). This step cannot be skipped either in the salon or at home.
- Then you need to select the tips of the required size. Tips must correspond 100% to the width of the nail plate.
- Then you need to remove the cuticle, as with a regular dry manicure - with an orange stick or a pusher
- The nails are given the required length. The free edge should be about a millimeter. The file must be held at an angle of 90 degrees
- The top layer of the nail plate is cut off. The file should be highly abrasive, about 180 units. You need to hold it parallel to the nail plate
- Glue the tips
- We adjust the length, sand it to a matte color
- Degrease
- Apply primer to your nails
- Apply a thin layer of gel using rubbing movements and dry for 2 minutes.
- Then the top of the nail is covered with a layer of gel, starting from the stress zone. You need to put a drop of gel, let it spread a little and spread it over the surface of the nail, slightly retreating from the nail folds. Things are a little different if you build up your French hair. This technology is carried out in a different way
- Place the nail in the lamp for 3 minutes
- After all the nails are extended, start modeling
- degrease
- Then you can start applying varnish and decorative elements
- Apply top

How to remove a manicure
Once the design has served its purpose, it must be removed. Girls who do their own manicure for the first time do not always know whether gel polish can be removed at home. There's nothing complicated about it. All you need is a professional nail polish remover (you can use regular liquid with acetone), cotton pads and foil.
Nails coated with gel polish should first be treated with an abrasive file. This is necessary in order to destroy the layers and allow the product to penetrate into the coating.
Next follow the instructions:
- blot a cotton pad with gel polish remover;
- Place the disc on your nail and wrap it tightly with foil to keep it in place;
- wait 15 minutes, then remove the foil and remove any remaining varnish using a wooden stick.
After completing the procedure, you need to apply emollients to restore the nails and skin of the hands.
Manicure at home
The simplest and most affordable option for many girls is a manicure with gel polish at home. Today, many housewives, having mastered the basics of manicure, offer their services for a modest remuneration. Having bought a lamp for drying gel polish, a palette of varnishes or a beginner’s kit, it seems so easy to earn additional income for the family budget. A manicure service at home can cost from 700 rubles to 1000 rubles. The final price depends on the skill of the master, the quality of the tools and the loyalty of the client.
Filing nails
But there are pitfalls here too. Manicurists working at home do not always follow the rules of instrument hygiene. Flattered by the low cost of 700-800 rubles, the client gets the opportunity to become infected with fungus, hepatitis and other diseases through undisinfected devices.
You can only go to a manicurist at home if he is a reliable, proven and experienced specialist.
