Bio gel nail polish - what is it and how to use it?

In the modern nail industry, there are a lot of materials that help you create an unusual and beautiful manicure. But there are very few that would combine decorative and restorative properties. Biogel for nails allows you not only to decorate your nails, but also to strengthen them and improve their health. This is a product that combines everything necessary for natural nail plates.

Composition of biogel for nails

All the caring properties of this product lie in its balanced composition made from natural materials. With regular application of biogel to nails, they become stronger and gain elasticity. These products are produced by many manufacturers, but the basic composition is the same for all:

— minerals; - tix tree resin; — organic proteins; - vitamins A, .

Thanks to these components, the use of biogel not only has a cosmetic effect on the nail plate, but also a healing one, making the structure of its epithelium stronger. This procedure is especially indicated for nails that are naturally weak or damaged after regular extensions.

Types of biogel for nails

Transparent biogel.

Most often used as a base coat. It dries quickly in about 2 minutes. It can be used to treat small cracks in nails and strengthen them. The application of transparent biogel does not provide shine to the nail bed, so nail polish is applied on top of it. Any nail design can be done on top of the colorless biogel.

This biogel solves several problems: whitens nails, neutralizes the yellowness and grayness of the nail bed due to its bluish color; used as a finishing coating; adds shine and shine to manicure. Available in transparent or multi-colored colors. It is often used when performing classic French manicure.

S-coating.

This biogel has a rigid base, the independent composition of which does not require the use of additional fixatives. This coating strengthens nails well and is used for nail extensions.

UV biogel.

Designed to protect the nail plate from UV radiation. Most often used for summer manicure. Apply over the base coat as a sealer. Dries very quickly, less than a minute. UV biogel brightens the nail well and moisturizes the cuticle.

Extension or strengthening of nails with biogel?

Many people mistakenly believe that any biogel can be used to extend nails. This is not entirely true, only hard S-coating is used as a biogel nail extension procedure. When using other biogels, the nail plate does not lengthen, but only strengthens and is protected from the effects of adverse environmental conditions. In some cases, with broken nails, biogel can help restore them; it can fix microcracks in the nail plate.

The process of using biogel involves applying it to natural nails, without the use of tips and forms (except for S-coating): the plates are not extended, but strengthened and decorated with various designs.

What is better - shellac or biogel?

Often these two types of manicure are confused with each other, considering them the same. The technology for applying shellac is similar to biogel and allows the coating to remain on the surface of the nails for a long time. But this procedure is only cosmetic. Using biogel, you can not only get a long-lasting and high-quality manicure, but also combine business with pleasure: make your nails beautiful and healthy. The natural composition of biogel gives it an advantage over other materials for nail art.

Disadvantages of biogel

This material has few disadvantages. Despite its effective healing effect, it cannot completely protect manicure from the negative effects of chemicals and water on the nail plate, although biogel somewhat mitigates the damage caused by household chemicals. The components of the biogel are “defenseless” against methyl alcohol, and in order to protect your nails and skin, you must do your homework with gloves.

Technique for applying biogel to strengthen nails

By following the rules for using biogel, you can learn how to give yourself a beautiful manicure at home with a dual function: decor + health improvement. This process should begin with the preparation of materials and tools:

— base coat; — transparent or colored biogel; - degreaser; — top coating; - sanding buffer; - nail file; — brush for applying biogel; — lamp for drying (UV or LED); - cuticle remover; - orange sticks.

The first time the manicure procedure with biogel will take a lot of time, but with a little experience the speed of execution will increase significantly.

Strengthening nails with biogel: technology step by step with photos

Stage 1: preparing the nail plate

The nails must be given the desired shape and length on all fingers by filing the free edge. Use an orange stick to push back the cuticle and remove it using a special product. It is not recommended to use nippers to avoid injury and subsequent inflammation, which will cause discomfort during the application of biogel.

Stage 2: degreasing

This is a necessary step for a quality manicure. On nails treated with a degreaser, the biogel applies more smoothly and lasts longer.

Stage 3: base coat

The base is applied once, always in a thin layer, retreating approximately 1 mm from the cuticle. This will prevent the material from coming off and chipping and extend the life of the manicure. The base coat on the nails must be dried under a UV lamp for 30 seconds. You can find out more about this time in the instructions for this product.

Stage 4: color coating

Nails are covered with transparent or colored biogel in one layer. You can roughly divide the nail into 3 zones. Dip the brush into the biogel and start laying it out from the end of the nail, this will be the first zone and so on. Then dry the nail under the lamp. The time is also determined by the instructions for this coating (approximately 60-90 seconds). If you want to make the color more saturated, the procedure is repeated. To protect the manicure from chipping and peeling, biogel is applied to the nail 1 mm from the cuticle. The free edge of the plate is sealed and additionally dried under a lamp for 30 seconds.

Stage 5: design creation

Manicure decor is performed on a finished colored layer in the form of painting, designs on nails, decoration with rhinestones, stickers, silk, decals or sliders. At this stage you can show your artistic abilities. The main thing is that the design is in harmony with the style of clothing and accessories.

Stage 6: top coat

It is applied to decorated nails coated with colored or transparent biogel, sealing the free edge.

In addition to manicure, you can do a pedicure using biogel. A pedicure with biogel will protect and strengthen your toenails, while making them beautiful.

Step-by-step instruction

We offer you our master class on how to strengthen nails with biogel at home and what you need for the procedure.

First, let's look at the tools and means. We will need: biogel, nail file, cuticle oil, foil. If you have a UV lamp, that’s great, but in principle, you can do without it. Each technology is unique in its own way, we will look at the simplest way to make your nails a little stronger.

  1. Polish your nails, level the surface with a nail file, lubricate the cuticles with oil, and thoroughly wipe the surface of the plate with polishing paper or cloth;
  2. Apply 1 thin layer of clear gel, leave it to cure for 2 minutes;
  3. If necessary, apply colored biogel on top. Next, you can apply a second layer of color, or fixer. Afterwards, we attach a “cap” of foil to each finger, which will help the varnish to be better absorbed, and leave for another minute.

This is quite enough to saturate your nails with the natural components contained in teak wood resin.

Good to know:

  • Before you carry out nail strengthening, correction with biogel, etc. yourself. we strongly recommend viewing a thematic video or step-by-step photos of the process;
  • All instruments must be sterile and clean;
  • The Women's Forum advises, if necessary, to cover the nail plates not with a base gel, but with a simple transparent varnish;
  • If you have absolutely no experience, then find a salon on the Internet that requires a model for a free session. There are two benefits here: you will learn how to do a manicure, and you will be given this aesthetic procedure for free;
  • The procedure also has disadvantages, such strengthening will be harmful immediately after extension, it is not recommended for use for fungi, nail psoriasis and other diseases;
  • To purchase quality materials, visit only official shopping centers (this could be an online store, a special cosmetics department store, etc.), be careful, there are advertisements for scammers at every step!

How to remove biogel correctly

Removing biogel should be given no less attention than applying it. The process is not difficult; you can master it yourself by preparing the necessary materials:

- tape or plaster; - cotton pads; - food foil; - sanding buffer; — a professional remover, liquid for removing acrylic or gel polish, or, as a last resort, alcohol; - orange sticks.

Step-by-step removal of biogel from photo

Step 1

Alcohol will help dissolve the natural components of the biogel and speed up the procedure for its removal. To do this, cotton pads need to be cut into pieces and moistened with alcohol or remover. Then you should lay them on your nails and secure them with tape or adhesive tape.

Step 2

Wrap each finger with a piece of foil. This will allow you to activate the process of alcohol exposure to the coating.

Step 3

Remove the foil and remove the cotton pads.

Step 4

Carefully and carefully remove the softened biogel with an orange stick.

Step 5

Sand the surface of cleaned nails with a buff.

If you use alcohol, then in order not to dry out the nail plate, it must be diluted with water before preparing the materials for removing the biogel. But it is better to use a professional remover. The vitamins and minerals in its composition nourish and strengthen the nail plate.

Regular use of biogel to create a manicure allows you to further strengthen your nails, make the plates strong and flexible, protect them from brittleness and delamination, and accelerate their growth. If complete removal of the biogel is not planned, it is necessary to carry out correction approximately every 3-4 weeks. These terms depend on the speed of regrowth of the free edge of the nail plate. Using this modern material, you can create an original manicure while maintaining the beauty and health of your nails.

What is the difference between biogel

Until recently, the most popular coatings were acrylic and gel. They were first used in the 90s of the last century. Indeed, nails with such a coating look more than attractive. With their help, you can eliminate imperfections in the nail plates, lengthen them and apply a design. But this type of coverage has significant disadvantages.

  • The applied varnish requires drying in a special room using special lamps.
  • Does not have a breathable structure. As a result, nails periodically need rest.
  • Removing acrylic or gel coating is a rather labor-intensive process. It is best to do this mechanically.
  • After removing acrylic or gel, the nail plate has an unattractive appearance for a long time and needs additional treatment with oils or moisturizers.

Gel polishes are more gentle. But they also have their drawbacks. First of all, it's their texture. They are relatively liquid and are more suitable for use by professionals. In addition, they do not hide nail defects well and cannot be used to model their shape.

Biogel consists of almost 2/3 natural substances, the main one of which is yew tree resin. They add to it.

  • Retinol, or a fat-soluble form of vitamin A, is a powerful antioxidant. The substance helps maintain the strength and beauty of nails.
  • Vitamin E is responsible for tissue regeneration and repair. Perfectly strengthens nails, prevents splitting, gives their surface smoothness and glossy shine.
  • Proteins that help fill and camouflage cracks and chips on the nail plate, restoring it to a healthy appearance. They also prevent nail splitting and brittleness.

The main advantages of biogels are:

  • breathable structure that allows you to wear this type of coating for a long time;
  • therapeutic effect, which consists in strengthening nails;
  • excellent cosmetic effect when nails acquire an attractive appearance;
  • dense texture, which makes it possible to use these products at home, and at the same time hides minor defects.

The disadvantages include a rather narrow color palette. Most companies produce light-colored biogels. Only a few use glitter or foil in their production. But, as a rule, the decorative effect significantly reduces their healing properties.

How to do a manicure and pedicure with biogel at home

Let's start by preparing our hands and feet for the procedure. If the nails have been painted or covered with a hardener or other varnish, it must be removed. Pre-steaming baths are not needed for biomanicure and biopedicure.

Using a silicone brush (or a cotton swab), apply a thin layer of biogel to the dry skin of your toes and feet and leave for 1 minute.

After a minute, without washing the product off the skin, immerse the treated areas in water (at a comfortable temperature for you). After some time, remove the feet from the water and use a heel file, pumice stone or brush to remove the softened skin. At the end of the procedure, rinse your feet with warm running water and apply moisturizing cream or oil to their skin.

If we only need a manicure, then it’s even simpler: we make sure that there is no varnish left on the nails, apply biogel to the dry cuticle using a silicone or cotton swab and leave it for a few minutes. Lightly moisten the treated areas with water. You need to remove the softened cuticle with gentle movements using a wooden stick. Wash your hands with running water at a comfortable temperature for you.

For the best effect, at the end of the procedure, apply a drop of softening peach or coconut oil to each finger in the cuticle area, take a small amount of moisturizing hand cream and massage it over your hands and fingers.

Well, we are convinced that biomanicure, like pedicure, is a very affordable and simple procedure; it practically does not require any additional tools. Since we are not “cutting” anything, there is no trauma to the skin at the end of the process. If you care for your hands and nails correctly, the subsequent growth of the cuticle will slow down significantly and the risk of hangnails will decrease. Biogel is an excellent addition to the list of ways to combat cracked heels. But we should not forget that the condition of our skin, nails and hair can reflect the state of our health, and it is most important. Take care of yourself and stay beautiful to the tips of your nails!
