Bio gel nail polish - what is it and how to use it?

Often, creating a flawless manicure leads to undesirable consequences - thinning of the nail, brittleness, delamination. This will help avoid this biogel.

The product helps damaged nails recover and acquire a healthy appearance. Biogel is a solution for pregnant women and people suffering from allergies.

Before using it, you should find out how this product differs from other coatings and what types are offered on the market, as well as look at reviews from real customers.

What is bio gel polish and what is it for?

Biogel is a type of gel-like coating for nails. The product is developed based on natural ingredients : teak resin, protein and calcium. In addition, the product does not contain aggressive chemicals, therefore it is absolutely harmless.

Biogel is used not only as a strengthening agent, but also as an independent decorative coating.

One of the varieties of this product is sculpting gel, used for building up and leveling the nail plate.

Its advantage is visual alignment of the nail . All microcracks and irregularities become invisible.

Tips or forms?

The forms (usually paper) are removed after finishing the work. They only help to increase the length, and the material is laid out on the nail itself. Tips are plastic plates that are securely attached to your nail and remain with you until you finish wearing your nails. Alisa Patrakeeva, manicurist: “Tips are suitable for very problematic nails with convex side and front pads, when the nail seems to be sunk into them. Then it is impossible to apply the form, although now there are technologies that allow you to apply the form to such problematic nails. Currently, the technology of extension on forms with lengthening of the nail bed is considered more correct.”

An experienced nail technician can advise which type is suitable for your nail shape and condition. But you can draw some conclusions yourself.

Pros of forms:

• the bond of acrylic and gel with the nail is much stronger than that of the nail with glue and tips;

• when applying extensions using forms, the master has the opportunity to hide some of the shortcomings of natural nails (grooves, growth to the side), and even hands (visual correction of the curvature of the fingers - the nail is extended slightly with an inclination to the side opposite to the curvature; hands with wide nail plates can make it more elegant);

• on the forms you can model the nail individually (while the tips are standard in shape);

• on the forms you can create nails that are correct in nail architecture (beautiful longitudinal and transverse arches);

• forms look thinner than tips.

Pros of tips:

• the extension procedure takes less time;

• suitable for any length of your own nail. Forms can only be applied if the edge of your nail is at least 1 mm free. If the nails are cut strictly to the root, they will not hold their shape;

What is the difference between biogel and gel polish? What's better?

Both biogel and gel polish are used to strengthen nails. Both products belong to gel-like coatings, but there are a number of differences between them:

  • After drying, the gel polish acquires a solid structure, and the biogel becomes elastic;
  • The duration of the procedure when working with gel polish is 15-25 minutes, with biogel 40-50;
  • unlike biogel, gel polish does not allow nail extension;
  • the average thickness of the biogel layer is 2 mm, and the gel polish is 1 mm;
  • When wearing gel polish, correction is necessary.

But the most significant difference between these products is the composition. Biogel contains more natural ingredients.

This characteristic affects not only the process of healing nails, but also the cost of the product (procedures using gel polish are cheaper).

It is better to choose biogel as a strengthening agent, and gel polish for decorative design.

However, many craftsmen effectively use both materials in their work.

Exploitation

Shellac is considered more stable in use. This manicure retains its original appearance longer and looks as if it had just been applied throughout the entire period of use. It does not rub off so much and does not lose its shine and gloss. In case of minor mechanical damage, such a coating will not chip and this is the main difference between biogel and gel. It is also almost impossible to scratch.

Shellac dissolves only with the help of a special composition, and in addition, it is unstable only to the effects of an alkaline environment. Biogel cannot boast of such stability. It is unstable and can fade and deteriorate when in contact with alcohol, alcohol, acetone, and almost all types of household chemicals and cleaning products.

Which biogel is better?

There are several types of biogel. They differ not only in color and texture, but also in purpose:

  • BioSculptureGel (sculptural) - after drying, the coating acquires an elastic structure and a natural natural shade: from greenish to pale beige. The product is used as a strengthening and leveling agent. Sculpting gel is also used for minor nail extensions (1-2 mm). The coating looks impressive in aquarium design and nail art with dried flowers.
  • Biogel RoyalSealer - this type of coating is used to fix the manicure in the final stages. It is applied before applying decorative elements. It has cool shades, which allows you to hide the natural yellowness of the nail.
  • Colored and s-biogel coatings, after drying, form a strong but flexible structure. Both products are self-contained and can be applied without base or setting products.

What is needed to apply biogel?

As with a regular manicure, applying biogel requires specific equipment . Many manufacturers claim that a UV lamp is not needed to dry the product, but this is not true.

Almost all gel coatings require special lamps. In addition to this, you will need: biogel, a soft and hard nail file, a degreaser, an acid-free primer and a cuticle softener.

All instruments must be sterile. To achieve an impeccable result, you need high-quality biogel.

French using biogel

Nail extensions with biogel at home with a French design are also possible. To do this, you need to add a biological coating to all the necessary materials:

  • camouflage pink;
  • white.

Procedure:

  1. Sand and degrease the surface of your nails.
  2. If you want to increase the length, use forms.
  3. Using a medium-width flat brush, apply the first coat. Dry for one minute.
  4. Remove tips, if used, adjust the shape of the nails, degrease.
  5. Apply pink coating. It serves as the basis for the jacket. Dry under the lamp for two minutes.
  6. Using a white coating, paint stripes along the edge, holding the brush straight perpendicular to the nail. Align the arc line. Dry for one minute.
  7. Paint the smile line with white again to make it brighter. Dry for two minutes.
  8. Apply a glossy finish to give your manicure a fresh look. Dry in a lamp for one or two minutes and remove the sticky layer using a degreaser.

Having done similar nail extensions with biogel on forms (upper or lower), it is recommended to do housework (washing dishes, cleaning) wearing protective gloves. Despite the fact that this coating is durable and the manicure with it lasts for a long time, contact with chemicals and prolonged exposure to water should be avoided. The biogel will become soft and the extension result will deteriorate.

How to apply biogel correctly?

Before applying the biogel, it is necessary to soften the cuticle , then remove it or push it aside.

is given the desired shape using a hard file .

There is no need to file down the top layer of the nail; just degrease it and dry it.

If the procedure is carried out in a salon or with a specialist, you must ensure that the specialist does not wash it down, otherwise there will be no benefit from the biogel.

After all the preparatory steps have been completed, an acid-free primer (drying without a lamp for 2-5 minutes). This product is necessary for strong adhesion of the biogel to the nail. When the primer has dried, biogel is applied.

It must be dried in a UV lamp for 2-3 minutes. To secure, the nail plate is covered with a finishing layer of biogel and dried for 2 minutes. To prevent the layer from sticking after drying, the nails are degreased again.

Nail gel: features of artificial coating

The so-called “hard gel” is a polymer synthetic material used for nail extensions. When exposed to ultraviolet light, it hardens to a glass-like appearance. Using a high-quality gel, you can create an artificial coating of any length. “Hard gel” has an increased strength index.

After application, the nail gel must be dried under a UV lamp. During the process of thermal exposure, the composition physically connects with the nail plate, filling all small voids, cracks and other imperfections of the nail surface. The gel, frozen in a certain form, certainly has strength and has an aesthetic appearance, but its high hardness index plays a cruel joke on it: the gel coating is significantly susceptible to chips, cracks, and any mechanical damage. But its main drawback is sensitivity to temperature changes.

After completing the modeling of the artificial nail using gel, the coating must be processed using the sawdust method. Although the dust generated during the modeling process is a small price to pay for the opportunity to create nails of the desired shape and length (and absolutely any).

How long does gel last on nails?

If the gel nail extension procedure is carried out correctly, the created coating will last for about 3 weeks. After this, it is necessary to correct the manicure. The gel composition that polymerizes on the nail plate is removed or modeled by mechanical grinding.

When should you choose nail gel?

This option is suitable for those who are not particularly worried about the condition of their natural nails, but want to look fashionable and become the owner of long nails of absolutely any shape (even to suit their mood).

Due to its special structure, the gel coating has a long “life” and rarely causes an allergic reaction. But at the same time, after wearing such material, natural nails require intensive treatment: restoration of the natural strength of the plate, its structure, etc. (this period, as a rule, is 2-3 months).

How to remove biogel?

To remove biogel you need a special biogel remover .

It is better to do the procedure in a salon; the master uses professional products with a low acetone content .

At home, you can remove biogel using any nail polish remover containing acetone.

For the procedure you will need: biogel remover, cotton pads, foil. The whole procedure will take about half an hour.

Cotton pads are soaked in biogel remover and applied to the nail, after which it must be wrapped as tightly as possible with foil and left for 20 minutes. After such a compress, the softened coating is removed with a clean swab.

CARE, REMOVAL AND CONTRAINDICATIONS

The advantages of biogel and shellac are that they do not require special care. You just need to protect the coating from acetone and alcohol substances and treat the cuticle with oil for a more accurate manicure.

Removing both covers is very easy. Place cotton pads soaked in a special liquid on your nails and wrap them in foil for 15-20 minutes. After time, the coating will come off as an even film.

Shellac and biogel are harmless; they do not contain substances that negatively affect the body. Their compositions do not cause allergies.

The only thing is that if you have recently pinched a nail or have a fungus, it would be advisable to first cure the disease, and then carry out procedures to avoid problems in the future.

Also, some women note that during pregnancy shellac did not last for the promised 2-3 weeks, but was rejected in an even layer in the first days. But here everything is purely individual.

Is it possible to apply varnish or gel polish on biogel?

Biogel can be used as a base : both gel polishes and regular nail polishes can be applied on top of it.

However, the latter will last no more than three days, and when they are removed, the biogel layer is damaged.

Therefore, it is better to use gel polishes or colored s-biogels. This manicure will last much longer.

When doing nail art using biogel, any decorative elements are used: stickers, acrylic drawings, beads, rhinestones, dried flowers.

Reviews of biogel

Real reviews from customers who decided to try biogel indicate the high decorative and practical effect of its use.

Anna : “I used original biogels produced in South Africa. My nails didn’t grow much afterwards, but they looked flawless.”

Maria : “I’ve been doing nail extensions for several years now, and recently I tried biogel. The clients are satisfied."

Ekaterina : “Before, I always did acrylic extensions. I recently tried biogel for a celebration – it’s very cool and looks natural.”

If you follow the rules of application, biogel will actually restore damaged nails . When doing the procedure with a specialist or in a salon, you need to make sure that the top layer of the nail plate is not filed away, otherwise the whole procedure will be in vain.

To maintain a lasting result, the coating should be protected from products containing acetone. Then your nails will remain beautiful and healthy for more than one week.

What's the result?

Of course, every woman has the right to decide for herself which procedure to give preference to, which coating is suitable for her in a particular case. However, some general recommendations can still be given.

Shellac is good for healthy nails, if there are any problems, you will need to fix them first. Biogel is often used as one of the therapeutic procedures.

For the rest, you can proceed from the strengths and weaknesses of a particular coating. So, if you often have to deal with aggressive chemicals, then it is better to stick to shellac. But for a trip to the sea and on vacation, biogel would be a good choice, because it is flexible, elastic and resistant to deformation. The risk of damaging such coverage during vacation is minimized.

For many, an important issue is the price of such pleasure. In some cases, the size of desires is limited by the size of the wallet. To clarify the financial issue, you need to contact several salons and find out the prices for the services offered.

If there are no fundamentally important points when choosing, then you can try both options and decide which one is more comfortable with which coating. And in the future, give preference to already proven material, and not be tormented by the question of what is better.
