How to seal your nails with wax at home?

The condition of a woman’s nails is her calling card and an indicator of her well-groomed appearance. Even if a representative of the fair sex does not particularly like decorative nail decorations, their healthy and clean appearance must be maintained.

Taking this into account, in modern cosmetology there are a large number of different products, not only for applying and removing decorative nail coatings. But also for everyday care. These products, which strengthen and nourish the nail plates, are in demand not only by opponents of colorful nail art, but also by fashionistas. Since constant coating with artificial materials and extensions deplete the nail plate, it begins to require additional care.

Among nail care cosmetics, ordinary beeswax has recently become increasingly popular.

What it is?

Wax has been known as a basic component of cosmetics for a long time. The fact is that this unusual substance, which in nature is a waste product of bees, contains a lot of nutritional and beneficial components. In addition to propolis, it also contains various natural resins, carotenoids, pigments, vitamins and minerals.

The uniqueness of wax as a component of cosmetic products is complemented by complete neutrality in relation to the body. For example, honey can often cause an allergic reaction in people with hypersensitivity, but with wax such situations are rather the exception to the rule.

Using nail wax, you can rehabilitate nails after regular “stress”, as well as transform those that are not naturally lucky enough to be strong and strong. Wax is used in the salon industry, as well as at home. Regardless of this, it will be able to strengthen and protect nails even after the first use, especially if all the rules of use have been followed.

Our dictionary

Nail wax is a cosmetic product based on natural beeswax, which is used to improve the condition of the nail plate, skin and cuticle.

Effect of nail wax

Nail wax is considered a useful tool with which you can not only improve the appearance of your nail plates, but also really restore their health and relieve them of the stress that they are exposed to every day. Due to provitamin A, esters, natural resins and bee glue, the composition has a complex effect on the condition of the treated skin.

One of the main distinguishing features of wax is its high permeability. It is this quality that ensures such high effectiveness of wax-based products, both for the skin and for the nail plates. An abundance of provitamins, microelements, essential oils, as well as bee glue and resins penetrate into the depths of the nail plate and strengthen it from the inside. In addition to strengthening, wax also helps prevent splitting of the nail plate.

The benefits of wax for nails are not limited to just strengthening and preventive effects. Regular procedures using wax have the following effects on nails:

  • soften the cuticle;
  • help nail plates regain their shine;
  • create a protective film coating that protects nails from adverse environmental conditions;
  • rejuvenate the skin of the hands;
  • promote healing of wounds after trimmed manicure;
  • relieve skin inflammation;
  • prevent infection;
  • help speed up recovery after extensions.

Wax in nail care products provides another unique opportunity. The beneficial substances contained in wax-based products accumulate in the tissues of the skin or nails during use. Nutrients gradually act on the nail through the pores and, in the process of accumulation, help to heal the nail from the inside. Thanks to this, they can be used to effectively treat any disease. For example, against fungus or vitamin deficiencies, and for preventive purposes.

Additionally, wax makes the nails matte and smoother, which in itself is a pleasant visual effect.

Types of nail wax

There can be many problems with nails, because they can not only be brittle and thin. To ensure that nail care procedures are as beneficial as possible, different types of cosmetic waxes have been created, in which additional substances can be found: The approximate composition of all waxes looks like this: natural wax, oils. Additional components may be: extracts, vitamins (A and E). However, the compositions of special waxes contain additional components that provide or help solve certain nail problems.

Strengthening

The composition of strengthening cosmetic wax, in addition to natural beeswax, includes minerals or mineral oils, as well as essential oils that help strengthen the nail plate. The most commonly used essential oils are pine, bergamot, and sandalwood. This wax is used to seal nails.

Growth stimulating

The composition of the wax, designed to enhance nail growth, also includes essential oils, but different ones. These are lavender, ylang-ylang, bergamot, etc. Wax to accelerate nail growth is usually used for masks or sealing nails.

Nutritious

This type of wax is especially relevant in the off-season, when the body lacks vitamins and minerals and primarily the nails suffer from this. The rich mineral and vitamin composition of the wax heals the nail, and lavender oils, patchouli and pine extract nourish it and protect it from damage (if present in the composition). Tea tree oil, chamomile, and calendula will also help get rid of nail diseases. Suitable for all manicure procedures where wax can be used.

Sealing balm

To use, purchase a polishing block. Make sure that there are no hard particles on the edges, since its purpose is to rub the composition into the nail plate.

  • wax – 3 g;
  • ylang-ylang essential oil – 3 drops;
  • grape seed oil – 1 tsp.

Recipe:

  1. To make the wax melt faster, grate it on a fine grater before heating.
  2. Mix with the rest of the ingredients and place in a water bath.
  3. Pour the resulting liquid into a cream jar and leave until it hardens.
  4. Apply to nails once every two weeks. To seal one nail, you need a small pea the size of a match head, which must first be rubbed into the plate with your fingers, and then “stamped” using a polishing block.
  5. You need to polish until the mass is completely rubbed in.

Forms of release of wax for nails

Nail wax is available in several formats:

Clean product

This is purified natural wax with the addition of extracts, vitamins and oils. It contains no chemical components or dye preservatives.

These foods have a dense texture and may require preheating;

Cream wax

A wax-based cosmetic product transformed into a cream. Cream wax is easier to use for daily hand care, as it spreads well and has a light texture.

Hand and nail cream

Unlike cream wax, the concentration of bee product in cream is lower - the base substance of the cream still comes to the fore. Such products are suitable primarily for caring for the skin of the hands, which needs protection, for example, in winter, when the weather outside is unstable, windy, or snowy.

Applying Nail Wax

Wax-based procedures for nails and hands are recommended for use in the following cases:

  • If necessary, strengthen the nail plate and cuticle to improve nail growth;
  • If cracks, hangnails, or any visible damage to the nail and the surrounding thin skin tissues appear;
  • Wax is also very often used to seal the applied manicure. This product will provide its best protection for a long time;
  • For polishing nails and giving them a pleasant matte shine and cleanliness;
  • For preventive purposes;
  • In cases of vitamin deficiencies or lack of calcium and magnesium in the body.

Procedures for applying nail wax are divided into three groups:

  • Preventive care for nails and cuticles;
  • Sealing;
  • Lamination;

Such procedures can be carried out both at home and in a beauty salon. Depending on the type of procedure, wax is used for baths, rubbing into nails and under the cuticle, and it is also mixed with vegetable oils and esters. In general, the method of working with beeswax will depend on what specific procedure is being carried out.

Preventative care for nails and cuticles

For preventive care, wax cream and cosmetic cream with added wax are suitable. The whole point of preventative care is to systematically moisturize your hands, nails and cuticles.

On a note

Such preventive measures are good for any woman. They are especially indicated if you are doing nail extensions or if they suffer from increased fragility and fragility.

Rules for using a cream product with wax:

  • apply the product 2-3 times a day. Regular application will create an invisible barrier on your hands to external aggressive factors - wind, rain, aggressive household chemicals, dust;
  • 10 minutes after application, remove excess. Wax-based creams are poorly absorbed and leave a greasy feeling on the skin for a long time. 10 minutes is enough for the desired part of the cream to be absorbed, so the excess can be removed with a paper towel;
  • do not use wax creams on the entire brush regularly - only during periods when it is really necessary. If you constantly protect the skin of your hands, its barrier function will decrease, and the dermis will forget how to cope with the negative impact on its own;
  • When rubbing the cream into the skin, do not forget about the cuticles and nails. Each finger should be massaged for 1-2 minutes to rub in a small amount of the product;

Periodic courses with wax cream significantly tighten the skin, so they are suitable for hand rejuvenation. But even in this case, you should not use creams constantly - it is better, no more than 1 month, followed by a break of 1-2 months.

Sealing split nails

If your nails are treacherously peeling and breaking, a simple but effective sealing procedure will come to the rescue. The purpose of sealing is to reduce delamination of the nail plate. When exposed to the plate, those places where detachments have formed are sealed and are no longer separated.

On a note

It is best to seal short nails with wax; by the way, this way they will flake less. You should also refrain from using nail polish

For the procedure, pure natural wax is usually used - cream products are not suitable for this procedure, since the presence of a “greasy” component in the composition will not allow the product to be properly rubbed into the nail plate. First you need to soften the wax in a water bath.

Sealing is done step by step like this:

  • Use a file to give the nail the desired shape;
  • treat the cuticle with a special oil or simply make a hand bath with salt for 5 minutes (ideally, sea salt);
  • move the cuticle to the base of the nail (you need to do this with an orange stick);
  • dry your nails with a napkin and use a nourishing cream;
  • polish the surface of the nail with a soft buff;
  • Using an orange stick, apply a little wax to the nails of one hand and begin to rub the product into each nail;
  • polish with a buff (it has special soft sides without grain that are designed for polishing). If you have a special polishing roller, you can use it;
  • dip your fingers in cold water (you can prepare a bowl of water and a couple of ice cubes in advance; alternatively, turn on the cold water from the tap and put your hands under the running water).

You can repeat this procedure at least every day, and the first result will be visible after the first procedure.

Polishing (lamination) of the nail plate

The procedure for polishing nails is quite simple. All you need is a wax-based nail polish or just natural beeswax, your favorite nail file, suede and rubberized buffs.

The procedure itself consists of the following steps:

  • Slightly soften the nails and cuticles by holding your fingers in a warm bath with the addition of a few drops of essential oil;
  • Be sure to trim the plate using scissors and then polish it with a suede buff;
  • Rub a small amount of wax or wax-based ointment into the nail plate and the skin around it. Repeat the procedure for each nail;
  • Polish your nails with the soft rubberized side of the file. Polishing should take about a minute;
  • Check the plate with your finger - as soon as the pad of your finger begins to slide freely over the surface, this means you can stop polishing. Do not overdo it, as you can simply remove the entire layer of wax.

For cuticle care

Indication for use is rough cuticle. Wax in combination with oils effectively moisturizes, making the skin more supple and soft.

Ingredients:

  • beeswax – 1 g;
  • peach oil – 20 drops or 1 ml;
  • jojoba oil – 1 ml;
  • wheat germ oil – 2 ml.

Recipe:

  1. Add all ingredients to a small container and melt in a water bath.
  2. Pour into a jar with a lid and leave until completely hardened.
  3. Apply to the cuticle and nails once every 3-4 days until the problem of hard cuticles is completely resolved, and then once a week for prevention.

You can substitute oils in this recipe if desired. If you add lemon or grapefruit, nail growth will improve and there will be a slight whitening effect.
